1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or playing Nine Lives Network ("the Game"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you don't agree, please don't play. It's that simple.

The Game is operated by Nine Lives Network ("we", "us", "our"). We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept the new terms.

2. Description of Service

Nine Lives Network is a free-to-play social game that operates primarily through X (Twitter). Players:

• Join one of nine magical schools
• Cast spells by replying to daily objective tweets
• Compete for territory control in the fantasy world of Nethara
• Earn points and climb leaderboards

The Game is currently in Beta (Season 0). Features may change, break, or be removed without notice.

3. Account Requirements

To play Nine Lives Network, you must:

• Have a valid X (Twitter) account
• Be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction)
• Not be prohibited from using social media services
• Comply with X's Terms of Service

Your X account IS your game account. We do not create separate login credentials.

4. School Selection

Your school choice is permanent. Once you select a school during registration, you cannot change it. Choose wisely, Nine.

5. Gameplay Rules

Players agree to:

• Play fair — No bots, automated tools, or scripts to cast spells
• One account per person — Multi-accounting is not allowed
• Respect others — No harassment, hate speech, or abusive behavior
• Keep it clean — Spell casts should not contain illegal, offensive, or NSFW content

We reserve the right to disqualify, suspend, or ban players who violate these rules.

6. Points, Rewards, and Virtual Items

Points earned in Nine Lives Network:

• Have no real-world monetary value
• Cannot be exchanged for cash
• May be reset between seasons
• Can be adjusted or removed at our discretion

Future token ($9LV) or NFT features, if implemented, will have separate terms.

7. User Content

When you cast spells (reply to our tweets), you grant us permission to:

• Display your X username and profile image in the game
• Feature your spell casts on leaderboards and in-game displays
• Use spell casts for promotional purposes

You retain ownership of your content, but you're responsible for ensuring it doesn't violate any laws or third-party rights.

8. Intellectual Property

Nine Lives Network, including its name, logo, artwork, game mechanics, and website content, is our intellectual property. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our permission.

The Nine thanks you for respecting this.

9. Third-Party Services

The Game integrates with:

• X (Twitter) — For authentication and gameplay
• Supabase — For data storage
• Anthropic — For AI-powered features (Nerm bot)

Your use of these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

10. Disclaimers

The Game is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free service
• That bugs will be fixed promptly
• That your progress will be preserved forever
• That the Game will continue indefinitely

We're a small team doing our best. Please be patient with us.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Game.

Our total liability shall not exceed $100 USD. Yes, really.

12. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Game at any time, for any reason, without notice. You may stop playing at any time by simply... not playing.

13. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
